I have been thinking about starting a blog about all things wedding related for a while now, but I wasn’t sure how to start or which wedding to start with! I knew I wanted to include the weddings I am shooting along with a few other things I have in mind, but that was as far as I’d thought. Student life has taken up such a huge amount of time over the last while, and all of these ideas I have had have been on the back burner for much of 2019.
So, here we are in August, I'm at a hen night in Aberdeen and purely by chance, bump into the groom from the very, very, very first wedding I shot back in May 2015! There was the answer to my question – I’d go right back to the beginning for my first “Wedding Blog Wednesday” post!
I first met Jennifer and Brandan ahead of their wedding in 2015. I don’t remember if I was advertising my photography or if they were advertising looking for a photographer, but we got in contact through an online post, and we decided to meet and have a chat about the wedding. Their small, intimate family ceremony was scheduled to take place at St. Francis Catholic Church in Cults, followed by a reception at Raemoir House, it sounded lovely and I was in!
The day itself started with coverage of Jennifer’s bridal preparations, and detail shots which was a lovely relaxed morning. I remember Jennifer’s mum and her best friend who had traveled from Canada for the wedding put me at total ease, they were all lovely and in great spirits. The ceremony was great, and I was delighted with some of the shots I managed to get before heading to the hotel for the reception, where the weather was kind to us and we managed to get some shots outside in the grounds of the hotel.
It was great to see Brandan at the weekend, to hear they are doing well, and have a new addition to the family since I last saw them! I’m so glad they put their faith in me to take their wedding photos, which has led me to where I am today…the rest as they say, is history!
